The Photographer’s Kids

So the kids had an awesome experience being photographed by the queen of color Beth Jansen. I had an awesome experience just watching it all unfold. We had a ball and I was nearly in tears watching my kids enjoy one another and at sometimes fight a little. I mean what’s a family photo shoot without the occasional pushing and shoving match! I had to resist the urge of saying “Smile” a few times but it all worked out. All the things I try to keep my clients from doing, I was guilty of! Shoot me!  Best of all we ended the session with Mommy’s favorite Georgetown Cupcake!

As it was a truly scorching day I learned my lesson from before and this time and brought plenty of water and snacks and towels to keep them dry. I am so blessed to have had my family photographed by not one by two amazing photographers this year. So this should last us another 10 years (since that will probably be the next time we come together again to take photos.LOL) Thanks again Beth!

Everyday Moments Photo Contest

So I was going through some old photos recently and it made me realize how many candid moments I HAD of my kids just being kids…that is until a few years ago when I dove into this passion of mine called photography and decided to make it a business. Now those candid everyday moments are far and few between. Now my kids run from me because I abused them with my camera by making them my faithful subjects for every new technique I came across. Well, I have challenged myself to start over and collect those everyday moments once again! They will thank me when they get older I’m sure.

So with that I would like to challenge you to do the same and to make it a little juicier I would like to pose a little contest. Send me your juiciest, funniest, heartfelt everyday moment. It doesn’t have to be perfectly exposed or even in focus but it must evoke some type of emotion.  When you send it tell me in one line what it means to you. You have until Monday, March 29 to submit your photos and the winner will receive a gift certificate for a spring fling photo session (value $200) as well as  a cool mini album (value $175) to hold those captured moments. Send your photos to tosha@thecapturedlife.com.The winner will be announced here on the blog on Wednesday, March 31.

So if you’re down for the challenge let’s do it! Maybe this will spark something in you to remember to cherish those everyday moments even if you have a box camera from the drugstore, capture it. Here are some of my everday moments that just warmed my heart and made me laugh and smile.

Laid back enjoying some sun. Gotta love it. Makes me warm just looking at it!

My little cousin studying hard as we were getting ready to go to the pool.

They had so much fun together. Gotta get them together more often.

This was so funny! Before wii my kids had a hula hoop contest. They got all the way up in the 100s! Whew

Who needs a car wash when you have this beautiful specimen of a man!

The child has major swagga!

Boys will be Boys

Like they say, boys will be boys and these little princes are boys to the core. This family was a ball of fun. I mean having two little boys who are not only smarties but a load of fun what more can a photographer ask for.  These two little ones ran me breathless by the end of the shoot but we had a ball.  See you next time boys!

Your kids are My kids

Needless to say these little girls in this post hold a special place in my heart.  They all went to school with my kids and each of them shared a classroom with each of my own children. They have spent so much time together throughout the years and this school year without them has been a little on the yucky side. I mean I was ready to go back to arranged marriages and pay a dowry for the oldest to marry my son. I figure better to keep it close and at least know they future wife was not only gorgeous and smart but came from the coolest most down to earth loving family. So here's to you Mama Dot and your beautiful loving sassy girls who we miss so much! MUAH!

Little "C". Everytime I meet him I know I am in for a good time. The first time we met was last year at his one year shoot and my oh my did I have a good time. He wore me out then and he wore me out this time around but it was way worth it! I tell you what, if turning two is THIS much fun, I am willing to get into a time traveling machine to do it all over again.

Thanks Mr. "C" for such a rowdy good time and thanks mom and dad for giving s yet another play date!

Such a lovely welcome.
